OUR 2009 PROJECT: 26 for 26 !!!
It's official—I'm crazy!
John, still smiling after 26 miles
After going back and forth on whether to do the marathon or not—due to a right strained knee—I woke up Sunday (37 degrees) and slipped into my running gear (long john's) and headed downtown for the race. (shuffle) The purpose and commitment was hanging heavy in my heart and mind.
Mission accomplished—a personal victory as well as a victory for The Cause! I ran for Danielle. Danielle was an outstanding gymnast until the moment occurred. She was performing a routine reverse flip on the beam and missed the landing by an inch. As her body came tumbling down, her head hit the pads and bent so far that the neck vertebrae fractured—leaving her paralyzed from her neck down to her toes.
 It only takes an instant, an inch and one's life changes forever.
As many of you know, one of my moments occurred 16 years ago from a fall while waterskiing breaking my neck at c-5-c-6 level. My other moment was a miracle when I was fortunate to regain partial mobility and live a life without a wheelchair.
To recognize the blessing and to give back to the spinal cord community, I wanted to stretch this year's project and make a significant difference in someone's life. THANK YOU for raising nearly $10,000 for Danielle and others through your donation to the Chicago Spinal Cord Injury Association.
However, we are not done! 26K is the goal, so I will continue to run until we reach the goal! Help me spread the word—16,000 people at $1.00, 1600 people at $10.00, 615 people at $26.00, or just 160 people at $100.00.

Our Mission: To serve people with disabilities by improving their lives with medical services, equipment enhancements, housing modifications and educational opportunities.
DRG Foundation will accomplish our mission by providing funds to:
- organizations serving people with disabilities and their communities
- people with disabilities who are in need of medical services, equipment enhancements, housing modifications and education to better their everyday life
- organizations providing educational prevention programs
- organizations dedicated to finding cures for specific diseases and causes of disabilities
Our Vision: We believe so strongly in our mission of our business, Disability Resource Group, Inc., that we have established a foundation to serve those people with disabilities who provide an example of why the products we represent are so valuable. We are raising funds for our foundation through our family, friends, customers and business partners through various activities and direct solicitation. We will also raise money through our public speaking and the fees and honorariums generated from these engagements.

OUR 2007 PROJECT:
Jim Cassidy's life changed forever when he was struck by a car 20 years ago that left him paralyzed from his waist down. He was 16 at the time of the accident. Every year or so, there seems to be internal medical complications from the accident that continue to hamper his life and lifestyle. Today, through his hard work and courage, Jim lives an independent life and works as an in-house sales consultant. His wheelchair which provides his mobility and freedom to an outside life was in serious need of replacement. It was the original wheelchair from his accident 20 years ago.
In 2007, Disability Resource Group Foundation made an anonymous gift to purchase a state of art Quickie wheelchair which replaced Jim-s 20-year-old chair. In addition, we provided his home with essential bathroom equipment designed for people with spinal cord injuries.
